La Masía Chardonnay

DO: California; Russian River Valley

Vinification: The grapes were harvested between August 22nd and September 12th. After minimal whole-cluster pressing, the grapes fermented in premium French oak barrels (44% new) from the cooperages Damy in the Allier forest and Rousseau in central France. Following full malolactic fermentation, the wine aged on its lees for 11 months until it was bottled in August 2016.

Clones: The Don Miguel Vineyard is planted with 12 hectares of Chardonnay, consisting of three different clones. The clones that make up the 2015 vintage are 41% Rued, 38% Spring Mountain and 21% See.
Tasting note: Beautiful gold color and exuberant aromas of orange blossom, green apple, along with cheerful notes of tropical fruit like papaya. A fresh, lively, creamy, round palate, beautifully balanced, with well-integrated elegant oak. Delicious to drink now, but with good aging potential. Best served at 8–9ºC.
