Nikka Coffey Grain

Product details: Original single grain whisky mainly distilled from corn in Coffey stills. This traditional corn-based distillation adds to Nikka Coffey Grain’s unusual character since most contemporary single grain whiskies are made from wheat. The Coffey still is named after its inventor, Aeneas Coffey. The distillation is continuous, whereas the individual stills used in single malt whisky production require two separate distillations. Nikka has two Coffey stills at its Miyagikyo distillery, which are used to produce its single grain whiskies. Imported from Scotland in 1963, these old stills yield a very round spirit with a distinctive character that defines the Nikka blends.

Tasting note:
Palate: Succulent and pleasant, it delivers on the nose’s promise. More fruit notes, especially sweet pear, as the whisky unfolds across the palate, quickly giving way to creamier notes carried by consistent freshness. Equally pleasant on the finish, with echoes of pear and bourbon vanilla, which leave a lightly bitter trace that is delightful.
